Ordering & minimums

What is your minimum order quantity?

Thirty pairs per style and per colour. Within those thirty pairs you can split the size run however you like, at no extra charge.

Thirty pairs of one sandal in black plus thirty in tan is two lines and meets the minimum. Ten pairs each of three different styles does not — each style needs its own pattern set-up, material order and line changeover, and that is what the minimum covers.

Can I order just one pair?

Yes, two ways. Buy directly from our online shop at retail, or order a paid sample if you are evaluating a style for a wholesale order. Sample fees are credited against bulk orders of 100 pairs or more.

Do I need to be a registered company?

For wholesale, yes — we need your company details for the commercial invoice and customs documents. For retail purchases through the shop, no. Whether your country requires an import licence for footwear is a local question; most do not, but confirm with a customs broker before your first shipment.

How long is a quotation valid?

Thirty days. Leather and hardware prices move, and beyond a month we would rather requote honestly than hold a price we can no longer make work. Full terms are in our Terms & Conditions.

Can I mix several styles in one shipment?

Yes, and most buyers should. Price breaks are calculated per style, but combining three or four styles into one shipment cuts your freight cost per pair considerably. A common first order is three or four styles at 30–50 pairs each.

02  /  Development

Samples & custom development

How long does a sample take?

Seven to ten days for an existing style in a stock colour. Ten to fifteen days if you want your own colour or material. Fifteen to twenty days for a new design on an existing last, and twenty-five to thirty-five days if a new last or outsole mould has to be made.

What does a sample cost, and do I get the money back?

The fee depends on the style and materials, and we quote it before you commit. On bulk orders of 100 pairs or more the sample fee is credited against your invoice. Tooling for a new last or mould is a one-off cost that is paid once and reused on every repeat order. Courier charges for samples are the buyer’s cost, or you can give us your own express account number. The full breakdown is on the How to Order page.

Can you make a shoe from a photo?

Often, yes. A clear photo from the front, side, back and sole is usually enough for our pattern makers to start. A physical pair is better still. What we will not do is copy a design that is clearly another brand’s protected property — bring us a reference and we will develop something of your own from it.

Will my design stay confidential?

Yes. Anything you send us is used for your production only. We do not show your designs to other buyers or add them to our own catalogue, and we will sign an NDA before you send artwork if you would like one.

What if the first sample is wrong?

That is normal and it is what the sample is for. Mark up what needs to change — strap position, heel height, colour, fit — and send it back in writing with photographs. Each revision round takes five to seven days. Most styles settle after one or two. We never start bulk production until you have approved a pair.

Can you put my brand on the shoes and boxes?

Yes — insole print, sock lining, hangtags, care cards, printed boxes and carton markings. Send print-ready artwork and we confirm placement on the sample before bulk. See OEM & ODM Services.

03  /  Production

Production & lead times

How long does production take?

Fifteen to twenty days for 30–300 pairs, twenty to thirty days for 300–1,000 pairs, and quoted per order above that. Add twenty to thirty days if a new last or mould is required.

Lead time starts from the later of two dates: when your deposit clears, or when you approve the sample. Peak season runs March to June and sits at the longer end of every range.

Can I see progress during production?

Yes. We photograph the line partway through and send the images to you, and again after final inspection with the packing list before the goods leave the building. If you want more frequent updates, ask — it costs us nothing.

What happens if you miss the delivery date?

We tell you as soon as we know, not on the shipping date. If a delay is our fault we look at partial shipment, upgrading part of the order to air freight, or a price adjustment — whichever actually helps you. Delays caused by late artwork approval, late deposit payment or force majeure are handled as set out in the Terms & Conditions.

Can I visit the factory?

Please do. We are in the Zhujiayang Industrial Zone in Wenling, Zhejiang. Tell us roughly when you will be in China and we will arrange the schedule and collect you from the airport or station. Third-party factory audits are also welcome. More on the Our Factory page.

04  /  Quality

Quality & materials

How do I know the bulk will match my sample?

Once you approve a sample we seal a reference pair and keep it in the workshop. Every pair in the run is checked against that physical pair rather than against a drawing, and the sealed sample is retained so your repeat order next season matches this one. We can seal and send you an identical counter-sample so you hold the same reference we do.

What counts as a defect?

Skipped or broken stitching, sole separation or lifting, loose heels or hardware, colour visibly off against the sealed sample, measurements more than half a centimetre out, wrong size or style shipped, and transit damage. Natural leather grain, minor shade movement between material batches and up to ±0.5 cm variation are normal in handmade footwear. The full tolerance table is on the Quality Control page.

Can I appoint my own inspector?

Yes, and we encourage it. Use any inspection company you prefer. We schedule the visit, present the goods alongside the sealed sample, and hold the shipment until you have the report. Inspection fees are the buyer’s cost.

Can you provide laboratory test reports?

Testing can be arranged on request through an independent laboratory of your choosing, at the buyer’s cost. Common requests are sole bond strength, colour fastness and restricted-substance screening for the EU market. Tell us which standard your market requires and we will help organise it.

What materials do you work with?

Genuine leather, microfibre and PU uppers, textile and raffia, plus rhinestone and hardware trim. Outsoles in TPR, EVA and rubber; cork and covered wedges; wrapped block heels. If you need a material we do not normally use, ask — Wenling is a shoemaking town and most things are sourceable locally.

05  /  Commercial

Payment, shipping & after-sales

What are your payment terms?

Thirty per cent deposit to confirm the order and buy materials, seventy per cent balance after inspection and before the goods are released. Everything is quoted and invoiced in USD. We accept bank transfer for bulk orders and PayPal for samples and small orders — PayPal fees make it an expensive choice on a large invoice.

Which Incoterms do you work with?

EXW or FOB Ningbo by default. CIF and DDP can be arranged on request. If you are importing for the first time, FOB is usually easiest: we handle everything up to the ship’s rail and your forwarder takes over from there.

How long does shipping take?

Express courier three to seven days for samples and small orders, air freight seven to twelve days, and sea freight twenty-five to forty-five days depending on destination and whether you ship LCL or a full container. Full comparison on the Shipping & Delivery page.

Who pays customs duties and import taxes?

The buyer, in every case outside China, unless you have specifically agreed DDP terms with us in writing. Duty rates on footwear vary a great deal by destination — check yours before you build your retail price, not after the goods arrive.

What if something is wrong when the goods arrive?

Tell us within fourteen days of arrival. Send your order number, photographs of the carton and the defect, the quantity affected and the batch label. Depending on the cause we resolve it by replacement in your next shipment, a credit note, or a refund. Who pays return freight in each scenario is set out plainly in our Returns & Refunds policy.

Can I cancel an order?

Before cutting starts, the deposit is refunded in full. Once materials have been cut the materials cost is deducted, because cut leather cannot be returned or reused for another order. Custom and OEM production made to your own last, logo or artwork cannot be cancelled once bulk production has begun.

Question not answered?

Ask us directly. We would rather over-explain than have you guess.
